Tramon Williams is the leader of the Green Bay Packers secondary as he’s seen it all and done it all. So when Ha Ha Clinton-Dix talked about his future with the Packers earlier this week, Williams knows what he’s going through. The veteran cornerback talked to reporters after practice on Thursday and he said Clinton-Dix talked to the secondary about his comments.

“I don’t have a problem with anything he said,” Williams said per Tom Silverstein of PackersNews.com. “I think you always have to separate business from the game. I have no problem believing that he wants to be here and play with us.

“We had a conversation with him yesterday and he wanted to know what we thought about it. All the DBs. He informed us it had nothing to do with us. He wants to be here, he wants to play with us.”

Clinton-Dix spoke with Jason Wilde of the Wisconsin State Journal earlier in the week and he said he doesn’t believe he’ll be back with the Packers.

“Right now, I’m playing each and every game like it’s my last. I don’t think I’m going to be here next year,” Clinton-Dix said. “That’s how I look at it. I just (have to) be honest with myself. You’ve got to play it game-by-game. Whether we’re losing by 60 points, you’ve got to go out there and perform. This is my biggest interview of my career. So I’ve got to perform, regardless of what the record says.”

This is not to say the Clinton-Dix doesn’t want to be in Green Bay anymore. He understands the NFL is the business and he’s preparing for anything that comes his way this upcoming offseason. And based on the way the offseason has gone for the Packers the last two years, it’s understandable why Clinton-Dix would say he doesn’t think he’s going to be here. Before the 2017 season, the Packers decided to not re-sign safety Micah Hyde and he ended up signing with the Buffalo Bills. And this previous offseason, the Packers decided to move on from safety Morgan Burnett and he’s now a member of the Pittsburgh Steelers.

As for Williams, he was a member of the Packers from 2006-2014. After the 2014 season, Williams decided to sign a three-year deal with the Cleveland Browns despite receiving an offer from the Packers.

The Packers picked up Clinton-Dix’s fifth-year option before the 2017 season, which meant they liked how he has performed since being drafted by the team in the first round back in 2014. Clinton-Dix was named to his first Pro Bowl in 2016 after recording 79 tackles, five interceptions and seven passes defended. In 2017, the Alabama alum notched 79 tackles, three interceptions and six passes defended. However, Clinton-Dix was not happy with the way he played last season because he was not able to make the same plays he did in 2016.

“Last year we had to do what was best for the team,” Clinton-Dix said back in May via Rob Demovsky of ESPN. “I wasn’t involved in a lot, but like I said, last year was last year. I didn’t meet the standards I set for myself personally. If you ask a guy from a different team, three picks and 80 tackles with not being involved in the scheme, I think they would think they had a great year. But with a guy like me with the high expectations I set for myself, I expect more and I expect more from myself this year. I have to work on a lot of things to get better at, and I’m excited about it.”
